New Doctor Who - James Callis

This guy is the ideal man to replace David Tennant.
He's British, he's a damn fine actor and he ticks all of the required Doctor Who boxes.

He has played a variety of roles, but he is most noteable as Gaius Baltar, in Battlestar Galactica.

Through this character he has played an emotionally tortured and multi facetted character, showing great potential in what he could deliver as the next Doctor Who.
The humour is there, the wacky zaniness is there, and the ability to deliver solid acting is there.

There can't be many more Doctor Who's left, so why go for the obvious choice - John Simm, lets go with someone who can win another generation of fans and keep it running longer and creating a broader worldwide appeal.

Come on Russell T Davies, before you leave put a nudge in the right direction for James Callis

can google predict the future?

(see previous blog)

Ok, so i tried various questions on Google like:

what should *my name* do tomorrow?
what will happen to *my name* tomorrow?

Nothing worked. All i got was information on other people.

Then i thought about something that was on my mind, the most nagging issue about me today.

I asked the question (i wont repeat it here) and about three options down, was a quote, telling me that in a week all will be forgotton.
This was the most significant answer that i saw in relation to my simple question.

I will use this as my first example and see what happens.

For all questions i will only allow the first page of google results to predict my future.

21st December 2012

As you may have gathered from my previous posting i am quite the pessimist.
Normally i would go gung ho for end of the world theories etc, but i am not getting this one.

21-12-2012 or 12-12-2012 for our American friends is the day the world is due to end.

see Millennium Bug Y2K , Nostradamus theories, pole shift, the coming of the Planet X, the usual stuff.

Apparently its because the Mayan calendar, which is 3600 years old, comes to an abrupt end on this date.
It supposed to be a huge spectacle, however there are far too many variations out there about what will happen.

Most of it is Biblical, then you have World War 3, Wormwood or disease etc etc.

I can't believe it because its sooooo date specific.

Among the many theories out there is one where in the next three years two people will reveal themselves, and pronounce themselves to the world delivering a message.
A message telling of the coming 'end of days'.
They will be disbelieved and ultimately killed.
To me this sounds very similar to the recent plot of Season 4 Battlestar Galactica (which is far more realistic, and also the greatest story ever told).

Just google '2012' and see what you get. Thousands of theories, hundreds of YouTube postings - its crazy.
Or is it because there is a new film coming out called 2012, and this is the best publicity drive ever?

Personally i am not looking forward to 2012, but thats because the Olympics are coming to London and it will be such an embarrassment (but thats another story).

It is true that things seem pretty gloomy at the moment, and i truly believe everything will get much worse, however to be so specific about the date is crap.

bad things happen all the time, its just now there is far too many of us on the planet, and we are all too greedy and i suspect the next few years will be very bad.

millions will lose there jobs,

terrorism will get worse,

the oil will run out (search 'peak oil' on google if you love this end of world stuff!, plus see my previous posts),

countries will do what they can to protect there own,

i believe its not about the end of the world, its just going to be a major re-adjustment to how people live.

start planting potatoes and sharpening a pointy stick. get on the wii fit and get into shape as the strongest greediest nastiest will survive.

personally the day my broadband goes that's the sign!

I reckon that if you google future days randomly google may predict whats ahead.
Obviously the weather is the big one and scheduled sporting events, but what about events directly related to me?

People believe what astrologers write in the newspapers, can we believe what the Internet predicts for us?

I am going to have a go, i will keep you posted.
But what do i search for?
Just a date? and see what happens to me?
or follow the instructions of things to do on a specific date?

I think i will randomly throw dates out there and questions specifically about me and see what happens, i suspect nothing.
One of my first questions will be what lottery numbers will be drawn on Saturday night!

Dio for Xmas number one!!!

The time for X factor winners at number one for Xmas must end!! The obvious choice is the aging Elfin rock god himself, Mr RONNIE JAMES DIO!!!!!

Witness his awesome ROCK POWAHH!!!:
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=bkysjcs5vFU

So the plan is this, in the week before Christmas we each buy a copy of Holy diver on Itunes or whatever other download place you like that will count as a uk purchase, thus starting Dio's reign as the god of Xmas Rock!!!

Please join the group on Facebook - 'Dio for xmas number one!!!'

Why are we doing this?

This year as last year and the year before that, we the record buying public are expected to consume and lap up another X-Factor winner, taking them into our hearts and in turn taking them taking them to number one in the charts.

A month later, their fading star will be gone and forgotten, leaving a bitter taste in our mouths and a feeling of being cheated.

Christmas number ones, used to be memorable, evoking memories of good times, but now our children are exposed to the current X-Factor ‘talent’ thrust upon them as their forgettable Christmas number one.

This must stop and stop right now!

As a stand against commercialism, brain washing and all that is rotten in music, we want something different at number one this Christmas.

We want our Xmas number one back; we want the choice of the people….we want

Dio – ‘Holy Diver’ for Christmas number one.

We are looking for people to download ‘Holy Diver’ from ITunes or from any other similar digital music download site between the dates of Monday 15th – Saturday 20th December to launch an assault on the charts. If we get enough people to download the song, then hopefully we can get Dio to number one and give Simon Cowell a slap in the face and say ‘No more!’

It doesn’t matter if you don’t like Dio, Metal or Rock music in general, it’s about something more, a symbol, and who better to choose than the man who created the horned fingers salute of Rock, Ronnie James Dio.

We have so far had significant mentions on National radio twice and we are going to have some fun with our worthy cause.

Please join, tell your mates, and shout it from the highest place in the land. We can't have boring X-Factor 'talent' being our Christmas number one anymore.

If you have any ideas that we can pursue that may help this noble cause, please email me or post on the group wall. November will be a busy but fun recruitment month.

near meth experience

Hmm,
i am getting decidedly 'tetchy.'
The Sisters of Mercy have decided to play everywhere in the world BUT the U.K. so far!
I would not be surprised if a gig in Somalia was annouced before the U.K.

Every week there seems to be more gigs added to some place in Eastern Europe or the U.S.
I am highly considering Warsaw or Madrid.

Now i am not a betting man, but i suspect they will end up doing a pub gig in Leeds somewhere as their 'alter-ego' 'Near Meth Experience.'
This is going to 'not be' announced and should be a bugger to track down.
Keep your ears to the floor people and let us know if you hear otherwise!

obama v mccain

sorry, while i am on one, thought i would post my thoughts here.

i watched the final debate between Obama and John McCain.

please god let Obama win.
McCain is just another version of George Bush and that scares me.

His only train of thought that i could fathom was, 'god bless this great country', 'i love this country more than him' ' if you have money i will look after you'.

the horrible fake smile of McCain as he talked directly to Joe the Plumber filled me with unease.
funny thing is, it turns out that Joe the Plummer is not a registered Plumber and that he owes thousands in unpaid tax, haha.

America needs change, and because of the influence they hold over the world, i think a change is in order. Look at the mess everything is in now.

the polls say Obama is ahead, but i suspect that the undercurrent of racism will sway this election.
its sad to say it but i think race will be the overriding issue here.

Imagine the U.S voting in another President as similar as Bush, that won't happen will it?

aca daca tickets bought!

quick update!
got my ac/dc tickets yesterday!!!!!
£93 for two tickets! ouch
but should be good, although its at a crap venue, Manchester M.E.N. arena.
i will have to take some binoculars.

seen some good stuff there..sex pistols, the doors(of the 21stcentury), audioslave, rodger waters, the prodigy..

seen some bad gigs there, good bands, bad venue....the darkness, duran duran, velvet revolver

will do a revue of new Ladyhawke album soon cos its the best album i have heard this year.
fantastic, a slice of electronic, a pinch of 80's pure pop and a stirring of attitude.
buy it.
