New Doctor Who - James Callis

This guy is the ideal man to replace David Tennant.
He's British, he's a damn fine actor and he ticks all of the required Doctor Who boxes.

He has played a variety of roles, but he is most noteable as Gaius Baltar, in Battlestar Galactica.

Through this character he has played an emotionally tortured and multi facetted character, showing great potential in what he could deliver as the next Doctor Who.
The humour is there, the wacky zaniness is there, and the ability to deliver solid acting is there.

There can't be many more Doctor Who's left, so why go for the obvious choice - John Simm, lets go with someone who can win another generation of fans and keep it running longer and creating a broader worldwide appeal.

Come on Russell T Davies, before you leave put a nudge in the right direction for James Callis

can google predict the future?

(see previous blog)

Ok, so i tried various questions on Google like:

what should *my name* do tomorrow?
what will happen to *my name* tomorrow?

Nothing worked. All i got was information on other people.

Then i thought about something that was on my mind, the most nagging issue about me today.

I asked the question (i wont repeat it here) and about three options down, was a quote, telling me that in a week all will be forgotton.
This was the most significant answer that i saw in relation to my simple question.

I will use this as my first example and see what happens.

For all questions i will only allow the first page of google results to predict my future.

21st December 2012

As you may have gathered from my previous posting i am quite the pessimist.
Normally i would go gung ho for end of the world theories etc, but i am not getting this one.

21-12-2012 or 12-12-2012 for our American friends is the day the world is due to end.

see Millennium Bug Y2K , Nostradamus theories, pole shift, the coming of the Planet X, the usual stuff.

Apparently its because the Mayan calendar, which is 3600 years old, comes to an abrupt end on this date.
It supposed to be a huge spectacle, however there are far too many variations out there about what will happen.

Most of it is Biblical, then you have World War 3, Wormwood or disease etc etc.

I can't believe it because its sooooo date specific.

Among the many theories out there is one where in the next three years two people will reveal themselves, and pronounce themselves to the world delivering a message.
A message telling of the coming 'end of days'.
They will be disbelieved and ultimately killed.
To me this sounds very similar to the recent plot of Season 4 Battlestar Galactica (which is far more realistic, and also the greatest story ever told).

Just google '2012' and see what you get. Thousands of theories, hundreds of YouTube postings - its crazy.
Or is it because there is a new film coming out called 2012, and this is the best publicity drive ever?

Personally i am not looking forward to 2012, but thats because the Olympics are coming to London and it will be such an embarrassment (but thats another story).

It is true that things seem pretty gloomy at the moment, and i truly believe everything will get much worse, however to be so specific about the date is crap.

bad things happen all the time, its just now there is far too many of us on the planet, and we are all too greedy and i suspect the next few years will be very bad.

millions will lose there jobs,

terrorism will get worse,

the oil will run out (search 'peak oil' on google if you love this end of world stuff!, plus see my previous posts),

countries will do what they can to protect there own,

i believe its not about the end of the world, its just going to be a major re-adjustment to how people live.

start planting potatoes and sharpening a pointy stick. get on the wii fit and get into shape as the strongest greediest nastiest will survive.

personally the day my broadband goes that's the sign!

I reckon that if you google future days randomly google may predict whats ahead.
Obviously the weather is the big one and scheduled sporting events, but what about events directly related to me?

People believe what astrologers write in the newspapers, can we believe what the Internet predicts for us?

I am going to have a go, i will keep you posted.
But what do i search for?
Just a date? and see what happens to me?
or follow the instructions of things to do on a specific date?

I think i will randomly throw dates out there and questions specifically about me and see what happens, i suspect nothing.
One of my first questions will be what lottery numbers will be drawn on Saturday night!
